Seasoning Opening Information

We made it! Welcome to the 2021 Tigard Little League season! We could not be more excited. You just can’t see it since we are not all sitting in cold, wet conditions in the THS stadium. Instead, you are receiving this rather lengthy email from me.

By now, all players should know what team they are on. I know we are still looking for the last few managers and coaches for Pee Wee, but otherwise, you should even know who your team manager is. Practice times are also either published or close to being published. The game schedules are still being worked on. We are waiting on the work to be done on Cook Park 1 and 2 for the baseball games. Softball is still in the process of having the interleague games defined. Pee Wee is also in process of being developed. So basically, more information will be available in the next couple of weeks.

TLL has been using Sports Engine to manage the website, schedules and teams for several years. They offer an app for use on Android and Apple platforms. In the past, we have encouraged all parents to mark their child’s attendance on the app. This year, we have to ask that ALL player attendance be documented by parents in the app. This will allow the league to track through who was present, should it become necessary. Our sincere hope is that it is not necessary, but just in case we have to have the data in an accessible system.

Only 1 role per person at an event.

For Covid requirements, we are still at immediate family members only for all practices and games. Face coverings are also required for all spectators and participants. The players will be lining up outside the dug outs, so as parents are locating their chairs, please take this into consideration. No sports gear, water bottles or food can be shared among players.

On the subject of Team Parents, we will not have some of the traditional responsibilities, but there is a key one that we do need help with. We need a Team Parent per team that is willing to help with the kids sitting outside the dugouts. The managers and coaches will be busy, so an extra set of hands to help ensure kids stay safe while waiting to bat, will be key. Your managers should be reaching out for volunteers. If you are willing even before the reach out, let them know.

If you are working with kids as a Manager, Coach, Team Parent or any other role, you must have registered as a league volunteer. This will trigger the background check for this year.
